Wireless Fidelity or simply Wifi is the newest trend in internet technology today. Well, it seems more people are going "loco" with it. No doubt, since there is more freedom and definitely more advantages in Wifi technology. Finally, there is a way for internet users to free themselves from the restrictions made by the cable wire. With Wifi, they could now connect to the internet anywhere especially at home or in the office. Installing Wifi is easy. All you need is a fast internet connection, an access point, and finally a wireless card.
Some people think that antennas are becoming obsolete technology, they may think of antennas as things of the past belonging to the era where TV remote controls and cable TV are not yet invented. On the contrary, this is not the case especially in the case of the emerging wireless technology in computer networking. Antennas are gaining importance today more than before. With the development of WiFi Internet, antennas are installed as receivers and transmitters in areas where the service is most needed.

Like any other developing technology, WiFi or wireless fidelity computer networks have certain promise and certain glitches. Wireless network technology has expanded the area of computer connectivity and work efficiency as well as communication capability of the industry and its workforce. WiFi offers convenience as well as inconvenience. The main disadvantage of WiFi system is its very limited area of coverage. Vulnerability to jamming and interception are other disadvantages. WiFi connections are only available in areas called WiFi hotspots such as villages, corporate premises, airports and coffee shops.
With WiFi (Wireless Fidelity) you can now access the internet without cable connections. Yes, with WiFi technology, you can go wireless with the internet.
WiFi enables your PC to send or receive data as long as it is within the range of its signal. With WiFi, you can enjoy a wireless internet connection whether you are inside or outside your room or home. This technology relies on 802.11a or 802.11b in order to give a fast, quality, and secure Internet connection.
You need to get an authentic WiFi card in order to enjoy this latest craze and gain wireless internet access.

WiFi refers to a product compatibility standard that uses radio frequency for wireless LAN, which is based on IEEE 802.11. Most modern mobile devices and local area networks uses WiFi but now, it is also used to gain access to the Internet. Access points within an area is called hotspot and it is highly likely that WiFi Internet access here is fast.
Internet access through WiFi works when a computer user tries to connect to the Internet by using his or her wireless enabled computer or personal digital assistant (PDA) is located in an area where an access point is near. One advantage of using WiFi Internet is that it can conserve the spaces cables are impossible to run thus reducing the cost for both computer users and WiFi Internet providers.

The increasing demand for mobility and accessibility is the main reason for the development of wireless technology. With wireless technology, interconnectivity is redefined. WiFi technology is utilized by computer users to access the Internet without the use of telephone lines. This enabled computer users to be un-constricted by the limitations of their work stations. WiFi technology was developed hand-in-hand with the development of laptop or portable computers. With WiFi technology, investors and stock brokers, for example, can monitor the stock market trends even if they are at the coffee shop or waiting in an airport.

The WiFi system is more vulnerable to attacks than cable or telephone line connections. The use of WiFi technology is becoming increasingly common in populated places other than residential subdivisions. University campuses, corporations, airports, apartment buildings and coffee shops are now commonly equipped with WiFi technology. This popularity exposes the WiFi sytem to certain problems such as jamming due to high user traffic, interception, and intrusion by hackers. Interruption of service may also become common due to limited accessibility of WiFi systems.

The main advantage of WiFi systems is of course convenience in terms of mobility and accessibility. Nonetheless WiFi systems are not readily available just anywhere. There are only limited WiFi hotspots of free spots where you can access broadband wireless Internet. WiFi systems are usually common in urbanized areas but are unavailable in less populated areas. Even in urbanized areas, there are only limited designated places for WiFi systems operation such as business districts and airports. Unfortunately, WiFi systems are not as dependable as the traditional telephone line connection.

WiFi or wireless fidelity is a wireless technology for getting access to the Internet. It is fast and efficient as ordinary Internet access connected by telephone lines. WiFi technology is similar to cellular phone technology in terms of mobility and, of course, wireless operation. WiFi technology is utilized by laptop users and PDA users to access the Internet. However, WiFi technology has a relatively very limited area of use unlike the cellular phone technology. WiFi technology is usually accessible only in WiFi hotspots such as airports, coffee shops, etc., where the WiFi service can be availed for free provided that the portable computer to be used already has an active WiFi connectivity.
