In Prehistoric times, man used to draw on walls and used drumbeats in order to communicate with fellow men. Hundreds of years later, they use writing and speech in order to convey oneself to others. Another hundred years later, men use wired communication technologies like telephone and computers to connect with people. A few years more, men now use wireless fidelity or wifi to communicate with others. As we know, wifi enables man to express himself/herself to other people through the medium of a wireless communication technology. Although it is very beneficial, hassle-free and readily-available, there are still some drawbacks of Wifi.
One of the disadvantages of wifi is its only limited to a few kilometers of coverage range. In short, it can only cover a relatively small amount of area. Thus, it cannot give you excellent communication technology located farther from you. This goes to show that no matter how powerful a technology is, it will always have negative aspects and limitations.
Aside from its limited coverage range, Wifi has a tendency to have a wireless security lapse and to mingle with another hotspots. And since this is the case, it would be very hard for you to get to the desired hotspots.
Personally, hearing about wifi and its drawbacks make me conclude that no matter how technology may ease our lives, it's better to go back to the basics and that is actual communication with other people. You want to know why? Because like Wifi it's easy, fast, and convenient. But unlike wifi, it never gets security lapses and is not limited by boundaries.

Many universities, offices, and homes, use Wi-Fi antenna to enable people to access the internet and work. The wireless connection is useful for sending e-mail messages as well as other documents, which are essential to the operations of a business. Needless to say, wifi antennas especially the stronger devices often pose certain problems to users.
If you are using a strong device, the signal could reach other buildings or homes nearby. Without your knowledge, the signal can be used by other people in order to access the internet. However, you can solve this problem by placing it in a place where only a few people in the building or house can get access to it. Should you want to share the internet connection to other people, you can simply add another access point. You can also utilize an amplifier or a repeater in order to strengthen the signal within your office or home. There are various types of devices you can get in order to improve the signal. Just determine your needs and purposes in using the device in order to choose the right amplifier. With this devices, you can boost your signal, so that others may enjoy too using the internet connection.

There are many WiFi Internet providers available for net users to have a fast Internet connection. Among the said providers include the T-Mobile HotSpot in the US.
T-Mobile HotSpot gives a WiFi wireless broadband Internet service in various locations, like coffee houses, music stores, and book cafes, Inn locations, hotels, print centers, and even resorts. With the use of laptop and other hand held WiFi compatible devices, one may be have access to fast Internet connection provided by T-mobile. The said Internet service provider installs various access points throughout different service locations. It transmits a wireless radio signal to an Internet user's network card. A log-in page will be viewed by the users to enter the password as well as the user name. So, once the connection is verified by T-Mobile, users can now use the Internet resources.
However, T-Mobile HotSpot is not really a secured network just like other wireless Internet service. Remember that network security may be installed using security-designed software and hardware. Although T-Mobile does have its efforts of network security, it still does not guarantee an effective secured connection. It is the responsibility of the users to provide security measures that will best suit their condition and connection needs.

I know that there are indeed a lot of commercial WiFi antenna cable than I can use my WiFi access point or card, but most of the good ones are quite expensive. So, as I browsed through the Internet one time, I found out that I can make a WiFi antenna made of metal cans of coffee on my own. However, I wouldn't have to repeat the process of how to make such antenna since I already tackled that in my previous post. What I intend to explain in this entry are the kinds of can antennas.
WiFi can antennas are said to have two known types, one is the tin can and the other is the pringles can antenna. The pringles can is actually called as a Yagi antenna, which uses a pringles can to cover the mount essentials of the antenna. You see, pringles cans are really cylindrical cardboard containers that has a beam shaped elements and a radiator. Its other components grip the antenna for a more correct position. On the other hand, the tin can is considered the antenna itself. This is so because the the tin can antenna serves as the a waveguide antenna, wherein the shape, the electrical conductivity, and also the shape is actually the radio signal frequency. Now, if you place a radiator in the proper location, the can's dimensions will form the beam.
Since we now know the types of can antennas that can be used as an alternative WiFi antenna, I'm sure more people will also try out the said antennas for a better wireless Internet connection.
Most of us may notice that many are confused on how Bluetooth is connected with a WiFi Internet technology. Confusions regarding their use and purpose sometimes become a center of debate among technology geeks out there. So what are the specific difference of both widely used computer and electronic advancements?
A Bluetooth wireless technology is said to be very different from a wireless LAN. In fact, it is very different from a wireless network service. Bluetooth is known to be an industry telecommunications specification, which describes how computers, PDAs, and latest mobile phones can be possibly interconnected through the utilization of a wireless short-ranged connection. Among the benefits of using Bluetooth technology include that it is wireless, very inexpensive, and it does not really require anything to make the said technology work.
On the other hand, WiFi is a much capable and powerful means for reaching data rate transmission of more than 50Mbbps. The D-Link router called as 802.11b is said to be the popular WiFi standard technology used today. Such product specification has a good range that can transmit data over a 100 feet distance. Also, WiFi products have strong protocols in security that makes the said product a better solution in networking.
Now, the difference between Bluetooth and a WiFi wireless technology are defined, there should no longer be confusions or whatsoever regarding their purpose and use.

Wifi or wireless fidelity is the wireless and better way of accessing the web. The new technology allows a worldwide internet connection, which is transmitted via radio waves. In other words, the radio waves are the ones that make the existence of wifi possible. This kind of wave is transmitted through antennae and is picked up by special wifi receivers. The moment a wifi device gets a signal within the range of a base station, it becomes capable of accessing the internet even without the use of a cable connection. Of course, an access to a base station, a wifi card, and other necessary gadgets are required in order to enjoy this technology.
Fast wifi internet has already proven its many great advantages. Needless to say, there are certain setbacks encountered by people who use this kind of technology. Particularly, wifi internet continue to face many problems and issues in terms of security. Unlike the cable connection, a wifi network is actually more vulnerable to intrusions. Of course, the Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) is currently used to ensure security. Yet wireless networking is still more exposed considering the fact that data travels through radio waves, which are easier to capture.

We've noticed that over the past 2 – 3 years, the spread of WiFi internet technology throughout the world has been enormous. Most people would attribute this phenomenon to a simple advancement of technology like any other. In that case, do people also know that the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan, challenged the people from Silicon Valley? He challenged Solicon Valley in order to disseminate information about this technology to most developing countries, at the very least?
Yes. In a conference called, “The WiFi Opportunity for Developing Nations”, discussions were made regarding how the necessary wireless infrastructures and technology could be made accessible to developing nations.
Of course, this is in response to questions about the various applications and benefits arising from the advancement of WiFi technology. The hope is that internet access would become more available to developing nations for them to be able to reap the benefits of the communication and information that it has to offer. Needless to say, it has already done so in developed countries.
And so there you go. For those people who were not aware of these events, (including me) it's better to be late than never. I think that this is once again a wake-up call for all to be aware that outside of our own busy lives, there is a bigger picture. A bigger, global phenomenon occurring.

WiFi hotspots are growing in number as the days go by. I think it would not be too far into the future wherein most major cities in the globe would offer free WiFi access. This would probably not be within this lifetime, but its possible. Everybody's connected to the internet now, aren't they?
But for now, we'd have to do with WiFi locations that are specific to a given area and those establishments which want to provide clients with free access. But before you go out venturing into the internet inside the first cafe that you see, be mindful that the same dangers are present as with connecting to the internet through a telephone line or cable connection.
With that at hand, the same precautions should also be taken into consideration. Make sure that you are able to protect yourself against unwanted data transfers, that you have a secure network connection, and the like. This also includes the protection that you need from viruses and trojans.
The things that you need to keep in mind would basically be the same as those that you would normally do. So always be sure that you have all the necessary protection needed. You might never know when the time would come when there is absolutely no city where WiFi access is not available.

If you plan on investing in an internet shop, such as an internet coffee and snack shop, I have just the right tip for you. It involves security, and this may very well dictate the success of your business venture. No, you would not be needing additional high-end electronic equipment other than what would be required for an internet connection.
So, a tip would be for your internet connectivity to be free yet secure. Most people would prefer free internet use over several cups of coffee, and would be glad to just pay for rental fees of the computer and the cups of coffee. But, you'd be having problems when certain issues on security are lacking on the internet service that you'd be providing your customers. Well, specially since you plan to access, or make use of, wireless internet connectivity so as for your internet service to be free.
Well, here are some tips on securing your establishment's internet connectivity. An important aspect is preventing access to the management of your router from the wireless internet network. Also, change default passwords on your wireless internet network as often as possible, since it would only take a hacker a short period of time before he cracks either a default password or a changed one and thus have access to your wireless internet network. Plus, enable or install a security firewall application that would best suit your wireless internet connectivity. With this, having a secure and free internet access establishment would generally provide you with satisfied customers, thus satisfying your carnal lust for profits as well!

Wifi internet is becoming more popular nowadays. Well, this does not come as a surprise due to the many benefits offered by wireless internet. Aside from the fact that you'll be able to access the web anywhere you are, you also get the chance to avail of a free access by being connected to free wifi hotspots. Security though is among the major issues faced by wifi users. For, computers connected to the internet through this technology are most vulnerable to hacks and other destructive and dangerous data.
If you frequently use wifi internet, here are a few security tips that you must consider. First, you should be aware that almost all data that appears on your screen could be accessed or seen by other users nearby. Second, if you are accessing a site that requires you to place your password or if you are typing any other personal or confidential data (credit card number), be sure that you are located at a secured site. Otherwise, you'll find yourself at the mercy of these fierce hackers. Many people have fallen victims to identity theft. You can avoid being the next by securing your network well when you are using wifi internet.

The terms involved in high-tech digital devices are pretty much unintelligible to the unskilled user, but proves to be a major language evolution to those who have technical skills. Such terms are so often used in digital platforms that we sometimes get lost in the confusing jargon. Specifically with wireless internet connectivity now a possibility, these set of 3-letter words have also developed into new technical terms for equally new technical capabilities.
VLAN. This is the term which refers to virtual local area networks. In case you still don't know what it's for, then I suggest you go get a good book about wireless, mobile, or remote networking. Even include the term WLAN, or wireless local area networks, in your quest for technical knowledge. Upon doing so, you now have the capability to understand the tip which I would be discussing on the last portion of this post.
Compartmentalizing WLAN through VLAN. Congestion of wireless networks often goes along with its development. Thus, a formidable solution would be to break down a physical local area network into a number of virtual domains. With this step, your network is assured of proper management and security monitoring. With virtual network management, you arm yourself with a platform in which to decongest traffic on your wireless network.

The development of high-tech electronic gadgets for fast internet connections has been very rapid. Now, we have wireless routers capable of giving the user dual wireless internet connectivity. Yes, twice the speed of what the wireless internet service provider gives its clients. An even better innovation are those cards which allow free wireless access to existing wireless networks.
Yes, 802.11b networks are just what you actually need to have free wireless internet connection. There are cards which can be bought either for a laptop PC or a desktop PC. Since the boom of 802.11b networks, prices for these cards have gone down to very manageable proportions. But who'd want their networks to be treaded by people around him that are virtually unknown to him?
So I suggest, specially for those companies running behind 802.11b networks, to get the right security tools for this. There are numerous firewall applications which could greatly decrease the risks involved of having free open access points in your network. Another thing is to get the wireless service provider that provides security solutions for their clients. Why? Well, mainly because they're the ones who know their service, they would have appropriate solutions for issues pertaining to security and privacy.

The digital information age is totally well within our reach with the advent of free wireless connectivity to the internet. Most people in most countries are having a taste of wireless connectivity, both in communications and information access. But did you know that Chicago was among the first to get free wireless connectivity to the internet throughout its citywide system of public libraries?
Yes, Chicago, this good state, was first of the large cities in America to provide wireless internet connectivity for the public libraries within the city's premises. Now, this is something which would tell you about commitment. No, not that type of commitment which, sooner or later, the people involved get a divorce suit with the help of the top lawyers of the state. Education should be accessible to all, especially if it involves actual free information. Plus, providing it on public libraries assure the greater number of the city population access to free information and thus education. With this, the Chicago city government is planning to launch a free citywide internet access using wireless networks currently available within its premises. After all, upgrading a currently installed wireless net system is far easier than starting anew, right? Well, I guess that's the advantage of actually knowing what is right for the people by actually listening to what they need and demand.

I don't know whether the paranoia certain technological equipment instigates is baseless or factual. But, I seem to try and keep an open mind on such issues which pertain to security, privacy, and health. Yes, including health.
With digital information technology, its rapid developments also address certain health issues which experts in the field have been going through and investigating for quite some time now. In Lakehead University, access to the digital information platform we now know as wireless internet connectivity is prohibited. Yes, it is forbidden! This statement and policy came from the University's appointed president. He has issues which address health hazards to the continual exposure to wireless signals.
Lakehead University president and head Fred Gilbert announced that the Lakehead University, while under his supervision, would not allow *wireless internet connectivity within the campus premises. He stressed out that it must first be studied whether continued exposure to electro-magnetic fields, or EMF, does not trigger any abnormal reactions in the human body. He also mentioned that the studies would need to be in the nature that investigates on the effects of EMF on young people. He defended his stand on a meeting by stating that he has based this policy on scientific journals. He stated that the scientific journals addressed concerns which regard exposure to such elements as being highly probable to trigger abnormal reactions in the human body, specially the body of a young person.

Wireless internet access is now being tapped to be the prime internet connectivity of the world. This technology was developed in order for people to have free, if not affordable, access to internet. Now, the governments of the world are launching large-scale programs in which to maximize the fullest potential of this technology. Because this technology would provide the most number of people access to information and communication protocols the internet holds, this is one prime concentration of such governments.
Now, the government of this country is planning to sponsor the largest wireless network it has ever sponsored. Yes, the largest ever since the word wireless had any substantial meaning for online gamers. Suffolk county, along with its over 1 million residents, would be enjoying wireless internet connectivity anywhere within the premises of 900-square mile territory. Not only that, but everything that is digital, electronic, and with accessing capabilities to internet would be then internet-capable through free wireless connectivity.
Government offices, public and private institutions, establishments, and groups would be given free access via this government-sponsored program. Thus, I believe this would start more and more locations of the world to force, literally force, their respective governments to provide them with free wireless net. Why such a need for this connectivity? Well, because it would further develop the electronic business and communications sector of the world, not to mention more affordable and efficient means for the people of the world to use information and communication technologies.

In the age where digital information technology reigns supreme as the prime vehicle of communications, entertainment, and information dissemination, who could've guessed a top corporation would be offering something free to the general public? More so, something as high-end as providing an entire city with wireless internet capability absolutely free! Yes, the world is pretty much going haywire these days, but it's a good thing it's going wireless as well! Not only wireless, but going wireless absolutely free!
Google Incorporated, that superb internet company which currently holds the reigns of information in the palms of its hands, is turning a compassionate face unto San Francisco. Google Inc. has plans of making San Francisco wireless capable free of charge!
Google Inc. is answering to the demand of San Francisco locals for wireless internet access. This has been planned by the city government under Mayor Gavin Newsom, who is the main proponent of making San Francisco wireless capable. With Google's wireless internet service, the people of San Francisco would be enjoying the benefits of wireless internet connectivity anywhere, anytime. Plus, add to this the fact that Google plans its wireless internet service to San Francisco absolutely free of charge!
Now, a question looms the would-be wireless skies of San Francisco with Google's master plan. The question is whether corporations that are currently offering wireless connectivity with charge would either be totally eradicated out of the San Francisco borders or continue with its pay service of wireless connectivity when this happens. According to Google, it has no intention of being the top provider of wireless internet connectivity in the world, but it just wants to provide free and wireless internet connectivity whenever and wherever possible. Locals were also heard to state that since Google is the top provider of free information, it's no wonder it is also trying to be the top provider of free wireless connectivity!

Wireless internet connectivity is fast becoming the choice of travelers and tourists of the world. This is because wireless internet hotspots are increasing in the parts of the world where businessmen and holiday enthusiasts most frequently visit. With this, wireless VoIP is also the choice of such people for their communication needs. But what about the so-precious disk space to be conserved for those long hours of conversations on VoIP using a laptop behind a wireless internet connection? With this, some people have integrated their understanding on mobile phone call recording systems with wireless computing and communications behind VoIP. Thus, an answer to the problem at hand is provided.
You see, mobile phones have limited memory disk space. This is good if you only use your precious disk space for your entertainment endeavours, such as music listening and minor video viewing. But with the AMR and 3GPP formats, music and video entertainment, respectively, are taken one step ahead of the game. But then again, what if you use your communications equipment for recording long hours of phone conversations? Since using your mobile phone for such a task is out of the question, you then resort to using your laptop equipped with VoIP capabilities. But with mobile internet telephony, you grasp wireless internet connectivity for this purpose. Logically, you should be able to see my point by now. Yes, why not use the AMR compression format to record those important phone conversations you frequently have on your laptop and VoIP service! Then, for your phone call recording sessions while in areas wherein both dial-up and broadband internet services are lacking, using wireless internet connectivity should be your last resort. This would thus answer your mobile communication needs, more so your mobile phone conversation recording needs!

High-tech electronic equipment has definitely changed the way we entertain ourselves. A handheld gizmo partnered with wireless connectivity is indeed a movie-lover's dream combination. These handheld gizmos range from mobile phones to handheld PCs. Yes, you could browse the internet with those gadgets, but the only question now is internet connection speed. Why? Read on, and perhaps you'll know a thing or two about the latest craze when it comes to internet entertainment.
Audio or video streaming. Yes, faster and faster internet connection speeds have made it possible for this then dream to become a reality. What's even more promising is the current craze over video on demand. That's right, video on demand from the internet. You see, video providers give the service of videos on demand just by logging on their website, paying for the videos you want in streaming format through either PayPal or a secure credit card transaction. But what's even more interesting back then was the possibility of video on demand for mobile viewing. Well, now with wireless internet connectivity, the dream just became a full-fledged reality.
Streaming videos on the internet require fast internet connection speeds, aside from large capacity storage devices on your platform. Whether you're using a desktop PC, a laptop PC, or mobile device, you need these for your video on demand experience to be worth those nuggets. But, I suggest you get broadband internet services from your mobile provider instead of wireless internet services in case you're using a mobile equipment. This would not only heighten your video streaming experience, but it would also save you a lot of time and money.

With digital information technology, everything seems to be getting smaller and smaller, with our world with it! Also, as it gets smaller and smaller, it gets clearer and clearer as well. But the latter compliment would not be solely credited to technology nor to technologists, no sir! Modern professional visual artists would also have their share of the limelight.
You see, as everything turns digital, things keep on getting clearer and clearer while getting smaller and smaller too. Nowadays, professional visual artists rely on their digital machines, good photo-editing applications, powerful video-editing tools, and high-end equipment. With this, most of them use high-resolution LCD monitors, electronic sketchpads, and of course, Bluetooth mice. A Bluetooth mouse is necessary to provide such people the flexibility they need with wire-free navigation, specially with Adobe Photoshop and Premiere.
Back in the not-so-old days, wire-free mice had infrared connectivity on PCs. But this meant keeping the path from the port to the mouse absolutely clear and in direct visibility. But with Bluetooth mice, only a massive steel door of an air-tight vault would totally disrupt the connection it has to the computer. Thus, Bluetooth mice are now becoming popular to professional graphic artists. This is because not only of the flexibility it provides its users, but the smooth movements of the mouse cursor as well. Accurate mouse-cursor behavior is integral in the field of digital photo and video editing and design. Plus, a Bluetooth mouse is not only affordable, but compatible with most Bluetooth-enabled devices. These devices range from a handheld PC to a desktop computer.

I think because of the developments of digital communication systems, we can now have entertainment systems which are wireless enough to keep us mobile. With wireless internet technology, listening to audio streamcasts would never mean being confined in front of our PCs, near our PC speakers, or even holding our laptop PCs! Yes, I'm talking about a revolutionary way to listen to internet radio!
For most of us, listening to internet radio would mean having a computer, be it a laptop or a desktop, and an internet connection fast enough to give us seamless and uninterrupted audio streams of our most loved internet radio programs. But with wireless technology spreading like bacterial growth, this would all be revolutionized. Wireless internet connectivity gives us the power to listen to those internet radio programs wherever and whenever a wireless network is present at a certain location and at a given time.
But what if cellular networks then jump in to the so-called internet radio bandwagon? This would mean internet radio that is mobile and wireless at the same time! Not to mention what those electronic equipment for radio listening brought us back then, which was portability! Now a mobile phone could very well act as our miniature version of a complete information, communications, and entertainment package! Yes, wireless connectivity is here to stay, but for how long until we can think of something that would make entertainment systems as seamless, entertaining, and convenient as possible?
