It was easy to set up the Linksys WiFi system. We could've chosen other products, of course. He was able to acquire a switching hub that's powerful such as the 1000Base-T. UHDL series helped linked the wired network from the LinkPlayer to the database storage. Funny, because this stuff can be really expensive, especially when it runs on 100/10Base speed. Dennis says though, that you could buy cheap and standard quality if you know how to shop with the right vendor.

Any radio wave can interrupt the reception of WiFi system. If the data that's being transferred hits a wall, I could go all day without a signal, and Dennis' experiment would halt, too. When the downtime happens, I'd have to move elsewhere. One thing that's highly noticeable about this system is that the video frames seem to disappear at downtime. Dennis checks the Linksys router manual. He sets up all over again, this time with a better layout. He has the repeater or the antenna always ready.

Everything in this world has its good side and bad side. For example, playing computer games like Nintendo is very entertaining. You can play it when you are relaxing after studying or working. At the same time, it is entertaining and fun. However, there are times when playing these kind of games can be addicting. Even if you need to do something important, you still choose to play computer games. There are cases wherein children skip their meals just to play. Obviously, that's the bad side of it. This is not different in the case of WiFi or Wireless Fidelity.
The great help of WiFi in our lives is already a given. However, this mode of communication is very easy to penetrate. It can easily be accessed by anyone who has the knowledge about its weakness. Can you imagine this scenario? Two businessmen are talking to each other about a certain code to transfer big amount of money to the bank account of the first businessman. Unfortunately, an intruder is also listening to their conversation. It was all too late as the two businessmen find out that the money was gone. If this thing happens to you, would you still be happy that WiFi was invented? I doubt it! So, be careful when you are communicating using wireless connection, because someone might be listening.

Honestly, I can't believe how many people do not know what WiFi means. I was sitting in a cafe and this group of yuppies entered arguing loudly about the Dallas game they saw on TV. One was bragging he saw the game on his new Panasonic HDTV when a guy piped in and said he saw the game in the internet through WiFi. They all try to look like they understand, you know nodding and mumbling. But I distinctly heard and saw one guy nudge and ask his friend what WiFi is. I mean, almost all people know WiFi, even kids in middle school. But hey, no use griping about it. So out of the goodness of my heart, let me fill you in about WiFi.
WiFi is a contraction of the term Wireless Fidelity. Generally, it refers to all types of 802.11 network (dual-band, 802.11a, 802.11b, etc.). The WiFi Alliance popularized the term to lessen confusion with LAN networks. In addition, products tested and approved as WiFi-capable are inter-operable with each other regardless of their manufacturer or brand. This means that in a media center (a network of WiFi-capable electronics with DVD, TV, and computer) it doesn't matter if your TV is Sony and you're a Mac user. The TV can still be used to Net surf, the same way that the Mac can be used to watch a TV game or show. All this flexibility is possible with minimum effort and no unsightly wires (wireless, duh).

WiFi has become one convenience most people cannot do without. For others, WiFi has become a nuisance because new technology means new parts or even new equipment. How many times have we heard people junking their old personal laptops just to get ones that are WiFi-enabled? Or how many of our friends actually have queued in those dead-air toll-free lines just to avail of those wireless cards for their thingamijigs? The WiFi phenomenon has become too ridiculous!
But then, here's a breath of fresh air from those so-called conveniences: WiFi systems are reported to be beneficial for third-world countries. Say what?! Most of them cannot even afford to have WiFi, for goodness' sake! Not that I blame them, but you know how much technology costs. Anyway, WiFi systems are being used in hospitals and clinics in India to treat patients with eye disorders. The technology is aimed to help rural villagers to get in touch with eye doctors for diagnosis, even when the doc is ten miles away! Imagine that. Well, if you take the case of India, one country not very keen on using birth control, the reach of this kind of technology certainly is amazing -- picture about more than a thousand patients per month lining up at these vision centers! Actually, ten percent of these people (examined, diagnosed, treated) are already reported to have significant improvements in their vision, thanks to WiFi. With these advantages, shall I say, "ka-ching" once more for these tech makers?

In Prehistoric times, man used to draw on walls and used drumbeats in order to communicate with fellow men. Hundreds of years later, they use writing and speech in order to convey oneself to others. Another hundred years later, men use wired communication technologies like telephone and computers to connect with people. A few years more, men now use wireless fidelity or wifi to communicate with others. As we know, wifi enables man to express himself/herself to other people through the medium of a wireless communication technology. Although it is very beneficial, hassle-free and readily-available, there are still some drawbacks of Wifi.
One of the disadvantages of wifi is its only limited to a few kilometers of coverage range. In short, it can only cover a relatively small amount of area. Thus, it cannot give you excellent communication technology located farther from you. This goes to show that no matter how powerful a technology is, it will always have negative aspects and limitations.
Aside from its limited coverage range, Wifi has a tendency to have a wireless security lapse and to mingle with another hotspots. And since this is the case, it would be very hard for you to get to the desired hotspots.
Personally, hearing about wifi and its drawbacks make me conclude that no matter how technology may ease our lives, it's better to go back to the basics and that is actual communication with other people. You want to know why? Because like Wifi it's easy, fast, and convenient. But unlike wifi, it never gets security lapses and is not limited by boundaries.

If you're a musician, you know exactly what I mean when I say music runs in the blood. Through technology, music listening has never been the same - we now have mp3 players, downloadable mp3 files, mobile phones with media players, satellite and WiFi internet radio, podcasting, etc. Don't worry, I just know a little Greek, that's all.
Now WiFi internet radio - I bet this would be the trend in the next 5 years or so. Because of faster and faster internet connections, the development of wireless fidelity internet radio airplay is well in our reach. Infusion promises this all, and much, much more..
The Infusion gizmo is just what its name applies - it's an mp3 player, recorder, FM radio receiver, and an internet radio with WiFi connectivity. This compact multimedia device has also a built-in news receiver. Plus, it would only cost you somewhere between your mobile phone and your high-capacity portable hard disk.

Business, nowadays, are not confined to offices. One of the most suited venues for meetings and conferences are hotels. I could say this because many times have I been to hotels for business deals. You might say it is a waste of time meeting partners or clients when WiFi is already available. I know for a fact that I could maximize my use of the advantages of the technology, but I do not also deny the fact that it is still better to see clients face to face. I am very particular with trust and honesty so I see to it that I meet people personally to gain there confidence in me.
I was talking of hotels. Well, hotels are really impressive, especially here in US. I never expected the wireless services offered and readily available in them. In one of the hotels, I met a gentleman who works for the Lok Company. He asked me if I am interested with his kind of business. I learned that Lok is one of the trusted companies in providing wireless services. Only, this time, it is offering a one-of-a-kind software that hotels could make use of.
Since hotels have fast internet access, Lok is planning to integrate in them the new WISP box that does the jobs of portals, firewalls, routers, and billing systems. I had a good impression on the product, since the software allows hotels to print receipts with personal identification for the customers. That is amazing since, customers will not only be able to receive the proper information on the billing system, but monitor their stay in hotels as well. The software has a very distinctive feature that calculates the time of stay, the services to be charged, the hotel areas visited, plus the staff on duty. Personally, I would like to experience this innovation. Only, I am not sure if hotels will buy it.

When asked what I liked best about wireless fidelity, I said that it is the mobility I benefit from it. As a business man, I could walk around the office while talking to my partners over the mobile phone. Also, Wi-Fi allows me to do business even outside the office. All I need to do is carry my laptop with me and off I go for business any where in the globe.
However, based on experience, I was disappointed by the unreliable wireless security services of the internet. I believe that wireless security is a fuss. I am glad with the effectivity of the technology in my line of work, but I still do not see the significance of absolute security over my e-mails and files. Before, I used to trust softwares that do the job of guarding my files. I even devised the best and hardest to guess password for my system files. I have done all the possible means to secure my files, but nothing worked as effective as I expected them to be.
Long before I learned about security risks over wireless connections, I adhered to the rule of not doing business transactions in computer shops or Internet cafes. I tried my best to have my business deals done in my laptop. That way, I will be, at least, sure that no one is peeping on my files. Although, I am not completely confident about the issue, I am left with no choice but support Wi-Fi since it best serves my business needs.

Rock your world and enjoy good music with the WiFi audio system by Philips! I always thought I will never get to hear good music using wireless fidelity system. The device is so awesome; I am still dying to have it though I have the best music player with me right now.
I planned to put up an audio system that wills play music throughout the different areas in my home. All I need to complete my scheme is a steady device that will provide wireless connection to the loud speakers and single computer in my room. I thought I was running out of ideas when I learned about the WACS700. I would like to experience 'broadcasting' my music, at least in my house. Then, maybe given a break, I could make money out of it.
For the technical part, the device can turn plain music into party. It has features that readily arrange the settings of music to bring out the necessary effects for whatever purpose the music may serve. The best thing about WACS700 is that it can perfectly synchronize music to all the receivers installed in the area. I could not wait to try it for my self. It is the perfect solution to audio problems with its stylish design that features a digital display screen and digital speaker system like that of an Apple iPod. No fuss, but plain musicality, the WACS700 works as the assistant to disk jockeys. It actually allows users to see the information about the discs, artists, albums, and music play list for superior convenience. Once I get hold of Philips WACS700, I can already throw away my compact disc player.

WiFi or wireless internet systems are similar to walkie talkie communication. Both of WiFi and walkie talkie employ radio waves to send and receive messages.
Theoretically, you may connect a walkie talkie to a computer and allow it to send signals that can be received by another computer with walkie talkie. This process may be possible but very inefficient. Data would be sent at a very slow rate, not to mention that the data that will be sent would be very scratchy. WiFi systems require at least 2.4 GHz radio frequency and at least eleven megabits per second capacity.

Individual computers in use today are seldom unconnected to a network or the Internet, as if a computer cannot function without a network. Indeed, in some sense, networks are the lifeline of computers. Without networks, file sharing and communication among computers will not be possible.
The most common computer network today is the wired network either connected by telephone lines or cable. Another type of computer network system is the WiFi system which allows relative mobility among computer network users. This system conforms to the specifications of EEE 802.11b wireless system.
